Early features of spinal cord lesions

The characteristics of early spinal cord lesions are divided into two main areas: 1) sensory symptoms, most notably pain, numbness or hypesthesia; 2) motor symptoms, most patients show weakness in the limbs, such as a decrease in strength in one or both limbs. In later stages, muscle atrophy of the limbs and even Charcot’s joints can appear, among many other symptoms. Therefore, it is important to pay close attention to the spinal cord lesions, especially the loss of sensation and local pain in the limbs, or the appearance of weakness in one or both limbs, which is very important for early detection of spinal cord lesions. Once the above symptoms appear, we should not rely on symptomatology alone, but also conduct relevant examinations, such as MRI and CT to determine.
