Heart with a pinching pain sensation in the middle of the night, if it lasts for about one to two seconds at a time, is highly considered intercostal neuralgia, or due to cardiac neurosis. The patient is advised to take a medication like Compound Danshen Drops, which will help improve the tingling sensation in the precordial area. The patient is also advised to have further examination of chest X-ray, ECG, and cardiac ultrasound, which will help to clarify whether there is any organic pathology at present. The patient may also undergo an ambulatory electrocardiogram, which will help to detect the presence of myocardial ischemia during the pinprick pain episodes and can better clarify the diagnosis. Aspirin and metoprolol-based medications may also be taken if angina is considered. If the final diagnosis is not organic but due to cardiac neurosis, medications such as Sweet Dreams capsules and Liver Relief capsules are recommended.
