How to rehabilitate a tibial plateau fracture

Rehabilitation training after tibial plateau fracture needs to be carried out in accordance with early rehabilitation, middle and late rehabilitation stage by stage. The main contents include knee joint mobility training and muscle strength training.
1. Early rehabilitation
(1) Elevate the affected limb after fixing the fracture with plaster, brace or surgery.
(2) Active movements such as hip flexion, extension and ankle flexion and extension, and full range of joint movements to maintain the mobility of each joint and prevent contracture.
(3) Physical factor therapy: infrared rays, ultra-short wave therapy or low-frequency magnetic therapy can be used to improve blood circulation and eliminate swelling and pain.
2. Middle and late stage rehabilitation
(1) Restoration of joint mobility: passive knee flexion and extension exercises should be performed with the help of joint function restorer (CPM), placing the affected limb on the CPM machine, with the angle of flexion and extension gradually increasing from small to large. The movement should be smooth, gentle, rhythmic, in order not to cause obvious pain is appropriate.
(2) Muscle strength training The knee flexion and extension resistance training can be completed according to the active and resistance training, and the ankle flexion and extension resistance exercise training can be carried out to improve the muscle strength.
(3) Standing training: Under the assistance or crutch support, standing training, gradually graded weight-bearing exercises.
(4) Balance training: after the knee joint stability is improved, dynamic and static balance training of the lower limbs can be carried out, one-legged standing, standing balance board and other training.
It is recommended that the rehabilitation training after tibial plateau fracture should be carried out under the guidance of the rehabilitation doctor to avoid delaying the condition.
