1. Middle meridian:
(1) Wind-phlegm stasis and obstruction syndrome, the main symptoms are dizziness, headache, numbness of the hands and feet, sudden crookedness of the mouth and tongue, salivation at the corners of the mouth (drooling), a strong tongue, hemiplegia (one side of the limbs can not be moved at will), or clonus of the hands and feet, with a thin white or purple tongue coating or petechiae, and a stringy or small slippery pulse.
(2) Wind-yang upheaval syndrome, often characterized by dizziness and headache, tinnitus, facial redness, lumbar and leg pain and weakness, sudden onset of awry mouth and tongue, spoken language, hemiplegia, thin yellow coating, red tongue texture, and fine or slippery strings in the pulse.
2. Middle viscera:
(1) Closed syndrome, manifesting as sudden fainting, unconsciousness, clenching of teeth, silence of mouth, clenching of hands, hemiplegia of limbs, constriction (body spasm and convulsion due to the feeling of wind-cold), and convulsions.
(2) The symptoms of “dementia” include sudden fainting, unconsciousness, pale face, closed eyes and open mouth, faint snoring, urination, cold limbs and sweating, shrunken tongue, and sunken, thin and faint pulse, or floating and rootless pulse.
