How many types of psoriasis are there?

Psoriasis is characterized by the appearance of pimples of varying sizes, red spots covered with silvery-white scales, and clear borders, and is most common on the scalp, the extensor sides of the limbs, and the back. It is more common in men than in women. With this disease, the patient’s appearance is greatly damaged. Not conducive to normal work and life. The clinical symptoms of psoriasis are varied, and the performance of different patients varies greatly, and there are great differences in diagnostic criteria, treatment principles, prognosis and other aspects of the disease. In order to facilitate the description and differentiation of different diseases, the skin science community divides psoriasis into four main types: (1) Ordinary type psoriasis: it is the most common type, accounting for more than 97% of all psoriasis patients. It manifests itself as well-demarcated erythema, papules, plaques and silvery-white scales, with lesions of varying sizes and shapes, and can involve any part of the skin of the whole body and mucous membranes such as the oral cavity and the genitals, but it is more common on the scalp, the trunk and the limbs. (2) pustular psoriasis: this type is rare, there are two categories of limited type and generalized type, the incidence rate is about 0. 69%. Characterized by the occurrence of sterile pustules at the lesion site, itching or pain, which may be accompanied by the lesions of psoriasis of the common type. (3) arthropathic psoriasis: the incidence of this type is also about 0.69%, with psoriasis rash and accompanied by joint symptoms similar to rheumatoid arthritis. Joint damage mostly occurs in a certain period of time after the appearance of psoriasis rash, there are also those who occur at the same time with the rash, and a few patients can first occur arthritis symptoms before the appearance of the rash. (4) Erythrodermic psoriasis: also less common, accounting for about 1% of all psoriasis cases. Characterized by inflammation, flushing, and swelling of the skin all over the body on the basis of psoriasis, it is an acute and severe type of psoriasis. Erythrodermic psoriasis can be transformed from other types due to mishandling, or it can occur in the beginning.
