How a paraplegic woman takes care of her lower body

Female patients with paraplegia should take care of their lower body by paying attention to the cleaning and care of urine and feces, keeping the perineum clean and dry, and avoiding over-cleansing and the use of irritating substances.
For female paraplegic patients, common ways to care for the perineum include keeping it clean and rinsing it appropriately after bowel movement. Normal cleansing of the perineum is sufficient, without the need for excessive and repeated cleansing on a daily basis, and extensive use of cleansing agents for the perineum is not recommended.
Try to choose breathable, comfortable, pure cotton material for underwear. Avoid perineal contact with irritating objects, and try to choose non-irritating materials, otherwise it is easy to cause allergic conditions to occur.
For female patients with paraplegia, urinary and bowel care is very important. Patients should maintain a certain amount of urine and actively prevent urinary tract infections. It is important to develop good urination and defecation habits, and to defecate regularly and on time.
Patients who can control urination and defecation by themselves, take the supine position in bed. In case of incontinent patients, change adult diapers promptly. Keep sheets, bedding, and clothing comfortable and clean.
In the course of care, if the patient has any complications or other discomforts, it is recommended that he/she should seek prompt medical attention under the guidance of a medical professional.
