New coronavirus infections usually develop in about 1 to 14 days, with most patients developing the disease within 3 to 7 days.
Due to the general susceptibility of the population to novel coronavirus infection, symptoms usually appear within 3 to 7 days of infection. Clinical manifestations include fever, dry cough, and fatigue. Some patients report loss of smell and taste as the first symptom.
A few patients may present with nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, conjunctivitis, muscle and limb pain, and diarrhea. Some patients have no apparent fever. In severe cases, manifestations such as dyspnea may occur. Pediatric patients usually have mild clinical manifestations or atypical symptoms, such as gastrointestinal symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea, or only poor response and shortness of breath.
If there is a history of close contact with a patient with novel coronavirus disease or if the above symptoms occur after visiting a risk area, you should go to a hospital for prompt medical attention and personal protection.
