Gonorrhea is a disease of the genitourinary system caused by infection with gram-negative diplococci, also known as gonococci. Because gonococci are not susceptible to squamous epithelium, primary gonococcal skin infections are rare, mostly due to contamination with urethral secretions, and can occur as small pustules, or ulcers, on the glans, coronary groove, proximal lower extremities, and fingers. In addition, 1%-3% of gonorrhea patients will be due to gonococcus into the blood, resulting in gonococcal bacteremia. At this time, the typical skin lesions show damage to the limbs, especially the proximal joints, as bruises, petechiae or papules, which gradually evolve into blisters or pustules on the basis of erythema, or sometimes hemorrhagic blisters.
