Symptoms and treatment of hydronephrosis

Symptoms of hydronephrosis are lumbar pain, abdominal mass, urine abnormality, etc. Treatments include medication (e.g. amoxicillin, etc.) and surgery. 1.Symptoms: pain in the lower back is the main symptom, which is often not obvious in chronic obstruction and only manifests as dull pain in the lower back. Chronic obstruction can cause renal enlargement or abdominal mass. Renal function impairment due to chronic obstruction can be manifested as polyuria, and can also produce hematuria and abnormal blood creatinine. 2. The treatments are drug treatment and surgery: (1) Drug treatment: for patients with co-infection, antibiotic treatment can be given as prescribed by doctor, such as ofloxacin, amoxicillin, etc.; for patients with symptoms of renal colic, analgesic drug treatment can be given, such as diclofenac sodium, pethidine, etc. (2) Surgical treatment: for patients with hydronephrosis caused by urinary stones, appropriate methods can be chosen under the guidance of doctors to remove the stones; some patients with ureteral stenosis and obstruction will be operated to relieve the ureteral obstruction; for patients with hydronephrosis with severe destruction of renal function, if the opposite side of the kidney is functioning normally, the affected side of the kidney can be removed through surgical operation. If the diagnosis of hydronephrosis is confirmed, it is recommended to consult a regular hospital as early as possible and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment in order to reduce the adverse effects of the disease.
