Do you know what gonorrhea is?

Gonorrhea is a purulent infection of the genitourinary system caused by Neisseria gonorrhoeae (also called gonococcus) and is characterized by the discharge of purulent secretions. Gonorrhea is mainly transmitted through sexual intercourse and is most common in young adults, and has the highest incidence among sexually transmitted diseases in China. The first cases often occur in the urethra, i.e., gonorrheal urethritis. When the disease spreads further, it can also damage the reproductive system and other organs of the body, causing chronic inflammation of the genitourinary organs and leading to infertility or sterility. Neisseria gonorrhoeae, which is a gram bacillus, is suitable for growth in humid, 35-36 degrees Celsius conditions, gonococcus poor resistance to external physical and chemical factors, in a completely dry environment can only survive 1-2 hours, attached to underwear can survive 10-24 hours, in a few minutes in common disinfectants or soap solution can make it inactivated. Gonococcal resistant strains: Due to the mutation of cell chromosomes and with the use of antibiotics, especially the unreasonable use of drugs, gradually produce drug-resistant strains, currently known to have penicillin-resistant gonococcal strains and chromosome-mediated drug-resistant strains. In recent years, with the discovery of penicillin-resistant strains of gonorrhea, the incidence of gonorrhea invading the bloodstream and spreading throughout the body has gradually increased, and disseminated gonorrhea such as bacteremia, arthritis, peritonitis, pericarditis, endocarditis and meningitis can occur, causing mental and physical pain to people. Gonorrhea can often cause various complications, such as urethral stricture, prostatitis, cystitis in men, and renal pyelitis, pyelonephritis, paronychitis if transmitted upstream, and vaginal infection in women, causing endometritis, tubitis, ovarian inflammation, etc. Besides invading the mucous membrane of genitourinary organs, gonococcus can also cause skin damage, such as gonorrheal keratosis and gonorrheal dermatitis. Gonorrhea can be divided into 1, acute gonorrhea: the disease period is within 2 months, inflammation is obvious and easy to find. 2.Chronic gonorrhea: if the disease period is more than 2 months, the symptoms of gonorrhea are light and the lesions are mostly limited to the mucous membrane of the genitourinary system. 3, latent gonorrhea: that is, no clinical symptoms occur, but the gonococcus is latent in the urethral gland, cervix, prostate, seminal vesicles, fallopian tubes, etc. When drinking alcohol, excessive sexual intercourse or childbirth, the gonococcus can be active and cause the symptoms of gonorrhea.
