Retinal detachment usually requires several surgeries

For a single occurrence of retinal detachment, due to the difference in filler and severity, one to two surgeries may be required without any surprises.
The number of surgeries required for retinal detachment depends on the severity of the detachment, retinal tears and fillings, etc. For mild cases with small detachment and minimal tears, the retina can be supported by gas injection, and the injected gas will be absorbed at the right time without the need for replacement by a second surgery.
In cases of extensive detachment, retinal fragility, and multiple and complex lacunae, silicone oil filling rather than gas is often required. If the silicone oil is left in the eye for a long period of time, it may emulsify and affect the vision, and a secondary surgery to remove the silicone oil is needed at the right time. Of course, we cannot rule out the possibility of retinal detachment, which may require more surgery.
It is recommended that for the specific treatment of retinal detachment and the number of surgeries, you need to go to the ophthalmology department of the hospital to improve the fundus photography and other auxiliary examinations, and then choose the appropriate treatment for the specific situation under the guidance of the doctor’s advice and in combination with their own requirements.
