VCT is the acronym for Voluntary Counseling Test for AIDS. VCT is a caring service for people with high-risk behaviors and people living with HIV and AIDS in order to effectively control the AIDS epidemic and understand the current status of HIV infection in China, and to decide whether to get tested for AIDS through voluntary counseling. The HIV voluntary counseling rooms provide pre-test counseling, post-test counseling and supportive counseling as well as counseling services on how to treat HIV, how to refer HIV patients, the transmission routes of HIV, the symptoms of HIV and the institutions where HIV is diagnosed, and the HIV testing laboratories are able to screen for HIV.
