Schizophrenia is a chronic and severe mental disorder for which clinical cure can usually be achieved with the selection of appropriate antipsychotic drugs and or with appropriate other therapies, and in some patients, even consolidation under maintenance therapy can be achieved. This therapy is a milestone in the human response to schizophrenia. Even so, schizophrenia is again a very relapse-prone disorder, and experiencing three episodes means that it is best to remain on medication for life. So the therapy also has obvious drawbacks. For the vast majority of patients who need a cure, this milestone is only halfway, and the road ahead is still difficult and confusing. They generally end up in one of the following ways: very few patients are lucky enough to not relapse after one treatment, a small number of patients have strong family and social support to maintain consolidation under treatment, most patients go back and forth between treatment and episodes, and some patients are forced to give up after one or more treatments because their families are unable to do anything about it. Extensive eradication of schizophrenia is a dreamed ideal and a new milestone in human expectation of treating schizophrenia. The majority of Chinese and Western medical workers, patients’ families, social workers, medical institutions, research institutions, and even humanistic and religious institutions, charlatans, have all made and continue to make unremitting efforts to treat schizophrenia, regardless of whether the means used are successful or not, scientific or not, reasonable or not, true or not, humane or not, etc. Dual diagnosis and treatment is a system of medical treatment for psychiatric disorders that I have developed over the past two decades, with Chinese medicine as the mainstay and a great deal of integration with traditional Chinese culture and modern medicine. Initially, it was used to treat neurological disorders, and later on, it gradually involved schizophrenia and other disorders. As practice progresses, it is increasingly found to be of special value for schizophrenia and has the ability to cure some types of schizophrenia, although there are still many unsatisfactory aspects from the whole range of schizophrenia there are still many areas that need to be worked on and innovated waiting for breakthroughs. At present, dual diagnosis and treatment has a 60% discontinuation and consolidation rate or even cure rate for schizophrenia, a 25% apparent effectiveness rate, and a 15% poor effectiveness rate (but there is already a good research base). The key to the mixed results is that there are many different types of schizophrenia, far more than one might think, some of which can be stopped and consolidated or cured, some of which are effective, and some of which are not. There are two other miraculous phenomena. First, the efficacy and prognosis of dual diagnosis and treatment for schizophrenia is mainly related to the type of evidence but rarely to the duration of the disease and the number of episodes; that is to say, even if some schizophrenia has more than three episodes, it does not mean that it needs to take medication for life, and it is possible to stop medication and consolidate or cure it. Secondly, dual diagnosis and treatment requires extremely strict correspondence between different prescriptions for schizophrenia, and it is difficult to substitute different prescriptions for each other, which is qualitatively different from the fact that antipsychotics are largely interchangeable with each other. At the same time, I should also caution that dual diagnosis and treatment is still in the research stage for schizophrenia and can be used in a very limited geographical area and cannot yet help patients in distant places. On the one hand, this research is not yet perfect and must be focused on academic research; on the other hand, physicians have very limited energy; and on the third hand, there are extremely limited sources of medicine available and accessible (some herbal species are almost extinct and may be remedied by artificial cultivation in the future; but I am more concerned that perhaps some herbal species are already extinct for some types of evidence, but hopefully this is only my concern ). In the journey of discovery to achieve a widespread cure for schizophrenia, dual discriminative treatment has yet to overcome many difficulties and undergo the torment and hardships that precede a competent vocation. The first is that some regular Western medical experts categorically deny that TCM can independently cure or even eradicate schizophrenia, and the second is that a small number of fake, uneducated “TCM experts” who sell advertisements everywhere (in fact, they are high-priced sellers of low-end anti-psychotic The second is a small group of fake, uneducated “TCM experts” (who actually sell low-end anti-psychotic drugs at high prices) who brag that their “TCM” can universally cure or even eradicate schizophrenia. In fact, these two extreme views are both the same academic style of superficiality and forgetfulness of profit for the sake of harming the discipline, with the former being nothing more than an academic bully who speaks with blind eyes and the latter being a profit-oriented medical charlatan. Those who hold these two extreme views do not contain the excellent cultural genes of TCM and do not understand the true meaning of TCM in curing schizophrenia extensively. They are too far away from the truth of TCM and are advised to quietly do even a modicum of solid scientific research. Fakes in TCM certainly endanger the people and the cause of TCM itself, and should be seriously eliminated. But some regular Western medical experts should also be open-minded and do not think that they are stagnant, do not think that they can not do others can not; if they can adjust their strategy can be both their own national medicine to encourage and prevent the black sheep, the work is not great; where to go and what to do, good for themselves, the right path is the vicissitudes of the world, the wise man high talk is not beneficial, the foolish man determined to move the mountain. The process of acquiring a major scientific achievement is not easy to come by, and it is also long, and it favors those who have ideals and pursuits and can innovate, and who are down-to-earth and persevere through hardships. The significance of a widespread cure for schizophrenia is like opening up a safe avenue for the human spirit, which the people support as long as it is done with sincerity and care and patience and meticulousness. I believe that God will love and care for his own people, and has been cautiously cultivating and shaping a group of desirable talents and related supporting talents, and has been selecting a thousand open-minded people with eyes wide open. I hope that someone of my generation can meet the requirements after a thousand hammers and refinements, stand out and be lucky enough to take up the great task of heaven.
