Thyroid nodules with an aspect ratio greater than 1 are likely to be benign. 1. A thyroid nodule with an aspect ratio greater than 1 is a sign under thyroid ultrasound. The ultrasound features of malignant thyroid nodules include solidity, microcalcification, very hypoechoicity, irregular margins or extra-thyroidal invasion, and an aspect ratio greater than 1. Count the number of malignant ultrasound features listed above, and score one point for each malignant ultrasound feature, and reduce the score by one point if the patient has a coma artifact of a benign feature. 2. Thyroid nodules were categorized into 6 categories according to the scoring results: category 1 was negative (no nodules), category 2 was definite benign nodules (scoring -1), category 3 was probable benign nodules (scoring 0), category 4 was suspected malignant nodules (scoring 1-4), category 5 was definite malignant nodules (scoring 5), and category 6 was biopsy-proven malignant nodules. 3. When the only thyroid nodule with an aspect ratio greater than 1 has a score of 1, a category 4a nodule needs to be considered, which is 2-10% malignant and therefore has a benign potential. Further fine needle aspiration of the thyroid gland is recommended to clarify the diagnosis. If the test result is benign, regular and close review is recommended; if the test result is malignant, radical thyroid nodule surgery is required. Patients with thyroid nodules with aspect ratio greater than 1 should go to the hospital for timely treatment to avoid aggravation of the condition.
