Hepatitis B 35 positive indicates the recovery period of acute hepatitis B virus infection, hepatitis B surface antigen has disappeared, but hepatitis B surface antibody has not yet been produced. The five hepatitis B items are generally hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis B surface antibody, hepatitis B e antigen, hepatitis B e antibody and hepatitis B core antibody, so three is hepatitis B e antigen and five is hepatitis B core antibody, and these two positives indicate infection with hepatitis B virus. However, the hepatitis B surface antigen has turned negative, suggesting an acute infection. The surface antigen has disappeared, but the hepatitis B surface antibody has not yet been produced and the body has not yet acquired immunity. It may also be the other way around.35 A positive test indicates that the hepatitis B virus is infected and is presently infected and that the hepatitis B virus may be actively replicating. If the test is positive for hepatitis B virus DNA, this indicates a mutation in the S region of the hepatitis B virus gene and therefore a false positive for surface antigen. It is generally rare, but it does exist.
