Ask a question about lipoma

First I would like to explain lipomas. Lipoma is a common benign tumor on the body surface, formed by the accumulation of normal fat cells. It accounts for about 80% of benign soft tissue tumors. It is usually found under the skin, but can also occur in deep tissues such as viscera, and is mostly confined with a very thin connective tissue envelope and fat cells inside. Lipomas are usually found in the neck, shoulders, back, thighs and buttocks, and vary in size, with a flat mass or lobulated shape. They grow slowly and are often asymptomatic. They are soft and elastic to the touch and do not adhere to the surface skin. They are most common in women and rarely become malignant and become liposarcoma. The diagnosis of liposarcoma is usually not difficult, but it needs to be differentiated from dermatofibroma, epidermoid cyst, sebaceous cyst, hemangioma, lymphangioleioma and neurofibroma. The only effective method of treatment is surgical excision.
