Introduction of sinusitis

Clinical definition Chronic rhinosinusitis is a chronic inflammation of the mucous membrane of the sinuses and nasal cavity with a duration of more than 12 weeks.

1. Symptoms (1) Main symptoms: nasal congestion, mucous or mucopurulent nasal discharge.

(2) Secondary symptoms: head and face swelling and pain, reduced or lost sense of smell.

The diagnosis is based on the above two or more related symptoms, among which nasal congestion, mucous or mucopurulent nasal discharge must be one of the main symptoms.

(1) Nasal endoscopy: mucous or mucopurulent secretions from middle nasal passage and olfactory fissure, congestion, edema or polyps in nasal mucosa.

(2) Imaging examination: CT scan of sinus shows inflammatory lesions in the sinonasal tract complex and/or sinus mucosa. The diagnosis is based on clinical symptoms, nasal endoscopy and/or sinus CT scan findings. In children with chronic nasal . The diagnosis of sinusitis should be strictly controlled by the indications of CT scan.

(iii) unsatisfactory improvement of symptoms by drug treatment; (iv) intracranial and intraorbital complications.

The principles of post-operative medication are basically the same as those of drug treatment mentioned above, and the duration of comprehensive drug treatment is not less than 12 weeks. Postoperative outpatient follow-up medication changes last at least 3-6 months, and some patients even need longer time.
