Do not use amoxicillin in patients with known allergy to penicillin-like amoxicillin. For unknown patients a skin test can be done first. If the skin test is negative, it proves that amoxicillin is not allergic and can be used. The general dosage and usage of amoxicillin, generally such as oral, is indicated for mild to moderate infections. Adults take 0.25g per dose, 3-4 times per day. For moderate or more severe infections, it is 0.5g-1g each time, 3-4 times a day. For children, orally for mild symptoms-, 20 p.p.m. per day. For moderate or severe symptoms, 40-80 p.p.m./kg per day, divided into 4 doses. For patients with severe renal insufficiency, the dosing interval should be 8-12 hours.
