Vestibular gland stripping and removal are the same and are generally for the treatment of vestibular gland cysts. Not all vestibular cysts generally require treatment. Asymptomatic patients can be followed and observed. If the cysts are enlarged or recurrent, cystostomy can be performed, and if they are particularly severe, resection is recommended. Vestibular cysts are usually caused by chronic inflammation and long-term stimulation, which leads to blockage of the gland ducts, fluid secretion, and the formation of cysts. If the cyst is large or recurring, cystostomy can be performed. If the vestibular gland is removed, it will cause serious damage to the ducts, and the secretion of fluid from the gland will be reduced or disappear, which may affect the patient’s life afterward. Therefore, resection should not be considered unless other treatments are ineffective, or if the patient has recurrent episodes. Vestibular cysts should be evaluated by a doctor and treatment should be individualized according to size and symptoms.
