Vulvar atrophy may be related to ageing, or it may be caused by diseases such as vulvar leukoplakia and lichen planus.
1. Ageing: when a woman grows older, the secretion of estrogen in her body will obviously decrease, and the function of ovaries will also decrease gradually, so there will be vulvar atrophy, which is mostly seen in middle-aged and old-aged women after menopause, and it is a normal physiological phenomenon.
2. Vulvar white lesions: the cause of this disease is not yet clear, may be related to vulvar moisture, heredity, autoimmune diseases, endocrine disorders, pathogenic microbial infections, etc., because of the presence of inflammatory lesions, resulting in the loss of local dermal elasticity of the tissue of the fibrosis, which will result in vulvar atrophy, accompanied by vulvar itching, pain during sexual intercourse and other symptoms.
3. Lichen planus: the occurrence of this disease may be related to immune response, heredity, infection, mental stress, diabetes, smoking and other reasons. It can be triggered by factors such as work fatigue, antipyretic and analgesic drugs, etc. Some of the more severe cases will have vulvar atrophy, and will also have symptoms such as itching and flat papules.
If vulvar atrophy is ruled out as a physiological phenomenon, you should go to the hospital in time to do the relevant examinations, to clarify the specific causes of the disease and carry out the corresponding treatment.
