The glucose tolerance test is recommended to be performed at 24-28 weeks of pregnancy, with adjustments made according to the condition of the pregnant woman. Glucose tolerance refers to the body’s ability to tolerate glucose. Glucose tolerance can be used to screen for gestational diabetes at 24-28 weeks of pregnancy, with a normal diet and rest during the first three days of the test. Fasting is required 12 hours before the blood draw, and the first blood glucose test on an empty stomach is required on the day of the test. Dissolve 50g of glucose powder in 300ml of water, drink it within 5 minutes, and draw blood for blood glucose testing 1 hour later and 2 hours later, respectively. Measure the blood glucose value of these three items, generally fasting blood glucose <5.1mmol/L, 1 hour blood glucose <10.0mmol/L, 2 hours blood glucose <8.5mmol/L. If all three items are met, it means healthy; if one of the three items is abnormal, further glucose tolerance test is needed. If the pregnant woman has no other conditions, she can undergo the glucose tolerance test during this period; if she develops uncomfortable symptoms, the test time can be extended accordingly under the advice of the doctor. It is important to keep a fast before the glucose tolerance test to avoid misjudgment due to eating.
