Breast Reduction – Recovering Lost Confidence

Having a pair of perky breasts is something that almost all women aspire to and are proud of, so many with small breasts often consider getting breast augmentation surgery. However, if the breasts develop much larger than normal and are significantly out of proportion to the body, along with the typical sagging appearance, it is a different disease called gigantomastia. Nowadays we do not consider oversized breasts as beautiful, but rather very strange when they exceed a certain range. The abnormal enlargement of the breasts is mostly due to the overgrowth of glands and adipose tissue. It causes great mental and physical pain to the patient, and if it occurs in a minor female, it will seriously affect her physical and mental health. Macromastia can occur during adolescence (adolescent macromas) or during pregnancy and lactation (gestational macromas). The breast gland will rapidly increase in size during the first two years of life, sagging and even reaching the groin area, weighing up to 5-6 kg. The degree of breast enlargement in adolescent gigantism is generally more pronounced than in gestational gigantism. 2, the volume and weight of the breast is more than normal, manifested as breast hypertrophy and accompanied by different degrees of sagging, resulting in the loss of female breast curves; nipple size is normal, more downward displacement; areola more significantly enlarged. 3, huge breasts hanging in front of the chest can cause pain in the neck, chest, back and waist; in order to hold the breast, there is often a corset strap strangulation groove marks on the shoulder. 4.The skin of the inframammary fold and inframammary area can appear eczema, erosion and other skin diseases due to sweat impregnation. 5.Patients often feel the discomfort of heavy breasts and try to reduce the oversized breasts without paying attention to maintaining proper balance and posture, so it can cause deformities such as hunchback and chest changes. 6.Patients are under physical and mental pressure and torture all the time. Mentally, especially unmarried young women have untold worries and distress. Often, they think that others are pointing and judging them. There are many methods of breast reduction, but in Asia, due to ethnicity, it is easier to form skin scars, and the evolution of these reduction methods is more geared towards minimizing post-operative scarring with the same post-operative results, so the best surgical method for Asians is the short scar breast reduction method I am currently using. It should be said that the most important concern of every breast enlargement patient is the post-operative scar, which can be seen in the pictures of my patients in this article (before and four months after surgery); it can be said that before I do the surgery, I will make repeated trade-offs between breast enlargement correction and post-operative scar to reduce the scar as much as possible. Therefore, in order to have better postoperative results, I have been constantly improving and refining various details of surgical design, intraoperative operation, wound closure, postoperative wound care, and postoperative breast contouring. Breast reduction care: Postoperative patients are placed in a flat position because they are not fully awake from anesthesia, and the changes in their vital signs are closely monitored. Avoid activities for 24 to 48 hours after surgery to reduce bleeding in the surgical area. In addition, do not pull the patient’s upper arm to avoid damage to the brachial plexus nerve causing paralysis. Closely observe the blood flow of local tissues for 48 hours after surgery. Pay attention to the care of the drainage tube in the operation area. Observe the exudation of the dressing in the operation area, and consider changing and keeping the dressing neat and clean to prevent infection if there is more exudation. Postoperatively, anti-infection and hemostatic treatment is routinely given, and good pressure dressing is maintained. Patients are encouraged to drink more high-protein food to facilitate the recovery of the wound. After removal of the stitches, you can get wet 24 hours later. After cleaning the skin, topical tension tape is used topically for 3-6 months to prevent scar proliferation. Wear shapewear for three months after surgery.
