Can the ilium regenerate after bone removal

Iliac bone removal usually takes bone cancellous, which is regenerative.
Usually a small portion of one’s own iliac bone is selected for autografting in bone defect surgery. The iliac bone is mainly taken from the bone cancellous material, which can be sutured back to the bone cortex, and the cancellous material will continue to grow and form a new bone scab, the newborn bone, which will return to its normal activities in about 3 weeks.
The ilium is the most commonly used donor site for bone grafts. When removing the iliac bone for grafting, the highest portion of the iliac wing posterior to the anterior superior iliac spine, i.e., the area under the lumbar girdle, where there is no support, is taken out in small portions and localized bone formation occurs quickly.
Iliac bone grafting surgery should be based on the patient’s condition, under the guidance of the doctor to develop a reasonable and standardized surgical program, and actively cooperate with the treatment to promote early recovery.
