Wang Qingren was a medical doctor of the Qing Dynasty (1768-1831), with the word Xunchen, who was so profound in his medical skills that he wrote “The Medical Forest Correction”.
Wang Qingren was an expert in QI Huang, and his Five Stasis-Expelling Soup, with Chuanxiong, Angelica, Tao Ren, Hong Hua, and Red Peony as the base drugs, all have the effect of activating blood circulation and removing stasis to relieve pain. These five stasis-eliminating tongs are often used to treat insomnia and lumbar disc protrusion caused by blood stasis with satisfactory results.
1.Hematopoietic and Blood Stasis Removal Soup
Composition: Safflower, peach kernel, angelica, raw earth, chuanxiong, red peony, niger’s knee, orris, chai hu, citrus aurantium, licorice.
Effects: Promoting blood circulation, resolving blood stasis, promoting Qi circulation and relieving pain.
Indications: Blood stasis in the chest. Chest pain, headache which does not heal over a long period of time, pain like pins and needles with a fixed location, or erratic rebellion for a long period of time, or choking when drinking water, dry vomiting, or internal heat and stuffiness, or palpitation and palpitation, insomnia and dreaminess, impatience and irritability, hot flashes at nightfall, dark lips or dark eyes, dark red tongue, or tongue with petechiae or petechiae, and astringent or tight pulse. Commonly used in treating angina pectoris of coronary heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, chest pain due to chest contusion and costochondritis, as well as cerebral thrombosis, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, thrombo-occlusive vasculitis, neurosis, headache and dizziness due to concussion sequelae, etc. which are caused by stasis and qi stagnation.
2.Shao abdominal stasis-eliminating soup
Ingredients: cumin, ginger, yanhuosuo, myrrh, angelica, chuanxiong, guan gui, red peony, pu huang, wuling fat.
Effects: Promoting blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis, warming menstruation and relieving pain.
Indications: Painful or non-painful accumulation of lumps in the lower abdomen, or pain without lumps, or fullness in the lower abdomen, or soreness of the lower back and distension of the abdomen during menstruation, or menstruation three or five times a month, continuous, broken and coming again, with purple or black color, or blood clots, or collapse or leakage, and pain in the lower abdomen, or pink and white belt.
3.Tongkang and Blood Activation Tang
Ingredients: Red peony, Chuanxiong, musk, old onion, ginger, peach kernel, safflower, jujube, yellow wine.
Effects: Invigorating blood circulation and removing blood stasis, opening the orifices and activating the channels.
It is used for treating blood stasis on the head and face, hair loss, eye pain, white pearl red, rosacea, long term deafness, purple and white vitiligo, tooth chancre, dry blood strain in women and chancre in children.
4.Diaphragmatic Stasis Removal Tang
Composition: Wu Ling Li, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Chuanxiong, Tao Ren, Safflower, Dampi, Red Peony, Yan Hu Suo, Licorice, Xiang Shen, Citrus aurantium.
Effects: Promoting blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis, promoting circulation of Qi and relieving pain.
Indications: For the treatment of diaphragmatic stasis and stagnation of Qi under the diaphragm, formation of lumps, painful areas that do not move, abdominal cramps when lying down; kidney diarrhea and prolonged diarrhea. Now used in chronic active hepatitis, diabetes mellitus, ectopic pregnancy, infertility and other conditions due to blood stasis and Qi stagnation.
5.Body Pain and Stasis Removal Soup
Effects: Promoting blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis, dispelling wind and dampness, relieving paralysis and pain.
Indications: Blood stasis with wind-dampness, meridian paralysis, shoulder pain, arm pain, waist and leg pain, or circumferential pain that does not heal after a long period of time.
In conclusion, among the five Blood Stasis Removal Tonics, Blood Mansion Removal Tonics is equipped with Citrus Aurantium, Radix Platycodon, Radix Bupleurum and Radix Bupleurum, which are used to move Qi and open the chest, and Niubizi, which is used to draw blood downward, so it has better power to promote Qi stagnation in the chest and draw blood downward, and treats stasis in the chest; Tongkui Blood Removal Tonics is equipped with Musk, Onion and Ginger, which are used to open the orifices, so it has better effect of pungent and aromatic to open the orifices, and treats stasis in the head and face; Diaphragm Removal Tonics is equipped with Radix Aromaticus, Yanhuosuo, Wu Yao and Citrus Aurantium. It is mainly used for treating pain in the abdomen and swelling of the two hypochondrium and abdomen caused by stasis under the diaphragm and liver depression and stagnation of Qi. It can be reasonably used in clinical practice.
