Efficacy and Indications of Rangu Point

Rangu point is used to elevate clearness and lower turbidity, balance water and fire; it is used for treating menstrual disorders, spermatorrhea, impotence, hemoptysis, sore throat, thirst, and paralysis of the lower limbs. Rangu point, also known as Longyuan and Ranjiao, belongs to the foot-shaoyin kidney meridian, and is the Xing point of the foot-shaoyin kidney meridian. It is located in the lower part of the anterior part of the inner ankle, in the depression below the rough ridge of the navicular bone of the foot. Generally, it can be pierced straight 0.5 to 1 inch if needled. It has the effect of elevating the clear and lowering the turbid (causing the clear qi to rise and the turbid qi to fall), and balancing water and fire. It is used for treating menstrual disorders, dysmenorrhea, spermatorrhea, impotence, dysuria, hemoptysis, sore throat, thirst, umbilical cord wind in children, silence of the mouth, and paralysis of the lower limbs (lower limb weakness, numbness, and pain). This point is often combined with Kidney Yu, Taixi, Guanyuan and Sanyinjiao to treat menstrual disorders; and with Kidney Yu, Zhiwei and Qihai to treat spermatorrhea.
