Whether the hymen is easy to break varies from person to person. Some people’s hymens are thinner and easier to rupture, and even participating in strenuous sports, such as long-distance running or jumping, can cause the hymen to rupture, and a woman’s hymen has already ruptured even if she is not having sex. Some women’s hymens are thicker, and even if they have sex, rupture will not occur, and may even lead to difficulty in having sex, and difficulty in accessing the male reproductive organ, requiring a visit to the doctor for a hymenotomy. There are also women whose hymens are so elastic that even with sex, the hymen does not rupture and needs to be ruptured during labor. After the hymen is ruptured, there can be hymen scars remaining.
