Can Chinese medicine treat coronary heart disease?

  Chai Shen Tang (柴陷湯) is Chai Hu Shi Che Tang (柴胡陷胸湯), which is derived from the Treatise on Common Typhoid Fever. It is composed of Xiao Chai Hu Tang with the addition of Ginseng, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Jujube, Citrus aurantium, Radix Platycodon, Chuan Lian and Gua Gua Ren. The original formula is used for treating cold and fever, or vomiting and fever, but with sweating from the head, stuffy and uncomfortable diaphragm, pain when pressed, and bitter mouth with yellow fur. Cheng Shi often uses this formula for treating coronary heart disease, using the original formula of Xiao Chai Hu Tang with Hovenia, Huang Lian, and the basic formula composed of Gua Zhu. Coronary heart disease often manifests as chest tightness and distension, shortage of breath, with attacks or intensification during activity or emotional excitement, lasting for a few minutes or minutes, or several minutes in the case of evil. Repeated episodes can be relieved after rest.
