Talk about what are the common problems of pediatric inguinal hernia

The main symptom of pediatric inguinal hernia is a reversible swelling in the inguinal region or scrotum that appears when coughing, exercising, defecating, and disappears when quiet or sleeping, regardless of whether it is a boy or a girl. If a hernia has been diagnosed, even if there is no recent attack, it will occur in the future, so it must be treated surgically. Conservative treatments such as herbal medicine and hernia belt are not only ineffective but harmful.        There are two main types of surgical treatment, one is transabdominal small incision surgery and the other is transabdominal laparoscopic surgery. The results of both surgical methods are the same, depending on the surgeon’s custom and the patient’s family’s request. The surgery can be performed at any age and is mainly based on the clinical manifestations of the child, such as frequent impaction, pain, vomiting and other symptoms, and should be performed as early as possible. The surgery is mainly a high ligation of the unclosed peritoneal sphincter, which takes about 10 minutes and is safe. The operation should be delayed if there is fever, cough, diarrhea, etc. If the inguinal swelling cannot be returned, pain, vomiting and other uncomfortable conditions, i.e. inguinal impaction, the surgery should be performed immediately at the hospital by manual repositioning, and if it cannot be repositioned, it should be hospitalized for emergency surgery. After surgery, avoid colds, coughs and strenuous exercise, drink more water, eat easily digestible food such as vegetables and fruits, and prevent constipation, all of which can reduce the recurrence of hernia.
