How much do you know about the anatomy of the stomach

1, the location of the stomach The stomach is located in the upper abdomen of the body, the upper esophagus, the lower duodenum. It is adjacent to the liver, spleen, pancreas and transverse colon. Note: Therefore, tumors growing in the stomach will easily invade the surrounding organs. 2. Functions of the stomach Container: temporary storage place for food Digestion: grinding the food eaten Secretion: secretion of gastric acid and internal factors Absorption: absorption of water and alcohol Note: After the stomach is removed, the space for storing food becomes smaller, so you will feel full and uncomfortable. As time goes by, the stomach will compensate by getting bigger. The stomach is non-renewable, i.e. there will not be another stomach after total gastrectomy. 3, the structure of the stomach is a pouch-shaped organ, there are two doors, the upper one is the cardia, connected to the esophagus. The lower one is the pylorus, which connects to the duodenum. The wall of the stomach can be divided into four layers, but the total thickness of the stomach wall is only about a few millimeters. Note: If the cardia is surgically removed, stomach acid and food will reflux into the esophagus, causing reflux esophagitis, so long-term anti-reflux medication is often required. If the pylorus is removed, bile will reflux into the remnant stomach, causing bile reflux gastritis. 4.Lymphatic system around the stomach The fatty tissue around the stomach is covered with lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes. Tumor cells will follow the lymphatic vessels around the stomach to the lymph nodes, which is also a kind of gastric cancer metastasis, i.e. lymph node metastasis. Note: Removal of lymph nodes around the stomach is very important for surgical treatment of gastric cancer.
