How long does it take to get the results of a liver puncture?

Liver puncture biopsy is an invasive test that is the current gold standard for diagnosing liver lesions by obtaining tissue from the liver lesion for pathological testing. Its detection accuracy can reach 80%-90% and liver puncture biopsy usually takes 5-7 days to produce the final test results. Benign lesions may take a relatively short time, 3-5 days. Malignant tumors may take longer and may require further immunohistochemistry to achieve final confirmation. Although the accuracy rate of liver aspiration biopsy is high, the final result may be falsely negative, and the test results need to be combined with symptoms, signs and other ancillary tests. In cases where the liver puncture biopsy is benign but the clinical suspicion is high for malignancy, a more aggressive surgical treatment plan can be adopted.
