San Zi Nian Kou Tang is not recommended to be taken for long term use or under the supervision of a doctor. Three Sons Nourishing Relatives Soup is composed of three medicines: white mustard seed, suzi, and lycopodium. It has the efficacy of warming the lungs and resolving phlegm, lowering qi and eliminating food, and is used to treat phlegm congestion, qi and food stagnation. Symptoms include coughing and wheezing, excessive phlegm and chest congestion, difficulty in eliminating food, white and greasy tongue coating, and slippery pulse. In this formula, white mustard seed can warm cold phlegm and disperse Qi; perilla seed has the efficacy of lowering Qi and eliminating phlegm, relieving cough and asthma (stopping cough and calming wheezing), and lubricating bowel movement; and lycopodium has the efficacy of eliminating stagnation of food (facilitating digestion of food) and lowering Qi to dispel phlegm, and the three medicines match each other, which can warm the lungs and eliminate phlegm, lowering Qi and eliminating food. It is recommended that patients use medication under the guidance of a doctor, do not self-medication, so as not to delay the condition.
