What to do if you are nearsighted and presbyopic

Nearsightedness and presbyopia can be treated with glasses and refractive surgery. Myopia and presbyopia are two different refractive states. Myopia is usually caused by poor eye habits, resulting in a high refractive error and thus a loss of distance vision. Presbyopia is a degenerative condition that occurs with age, which is a decrease in the eye’s ability to adjust due to hardening of the lens. Myopia and presbyopia can be treated by choosing to wear two pairs of eyeglasses, one pair of glasses for near use, also known as presbyopia, which can maintain good visual quality for close reading, and the other pair of glasses for distance use, also known as nearsightedness, which can be worn on daily outings. Alternatively, surgical procedures, such as implantation of trifocal IOLs, can be done to meet the visual needs of near, intermediate and distance. Patients with myopia and presbyopia are advised to go to the hospital for timely examination and standardized treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
