Spider nevi are often a sign of dysfunction in the inactivation of estrogen by the liver. It is also seen in the decompensated stage of cirrhosis, in which the dysfunction of estrogen inactivation leads to mammary gland development and formation of spider nevus. Spider moles themselves do not have any symptoms and do not cause bleeding, so they do not require special treatment. The main concern is some complications associated with the decompensated stage of cirrhosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatic encephalopathy, spontaneous peritonitis and so on.
