Where is the main distribution of elastic cartilage

Elastic cartilage is mainly located in the joint surfaces of all joints in the body, generally one concave and one convex, the convex one is the joint head, the concave one is the joint socket. The elastic cartilage is usually 2-7mm, which not only makes the rough and uneven joint surface smooth, but also reduces the friction of the joint surface and cushions the shock and impact during the movement. Therefore, the elastic cartilage should be protected to avoid damage to the cartilage, because once the cartilage is damaged, the flatness of the joint surface will decrease and the function of the joint will be seriously impaired. With age, the elastic cartilage will undergo degenerative changes and patients may develop osteoarthritis, resulting in joint pain, swelling, restricted movement and joint deformity, and in severe cases, artificial joint replacement surgery will have to be used to completely resolve the disease.
