Self-talk is a behavioral abnormality that occurs when the patient is conscious. If organic causes are ruled out, it is usually seen in patients with schizophrenia and hysteria. First, it may be related to hallucinations. If the patient hears voices that do not exist, such as verbal hallucinations, the patient may talk to the voices he hears and may respond to insults or ridicule from the other party. Second, self-talk can also be seen in patients with psychosis who repeat the language of others, or imitate the language of others. Third, hysterical patients may experience emotional outbursts, shouting, talking, or cursing.
