The whole process of eye strabismus surgery includes eye disinfection, preoperative anesthesia, local incision, surgical operation, suturing the incision and bandaging with medical gauze. 1. Eye disinfection: the patient lies on the surgical bed on his/her back, and the professional doctor performs routine disinfection of the operated eye, and then covers it with a surgical towel. 2. Pre-operative anesthesia: the surgeon opens the patient’s eyelids with a lid opener to keep the eyes open, drops of surface anesthetics, and injects anesthetic into the eye area. If the patient is young or cannot tolerate the pain of surgery, general anesthesia should be considered. 3. Local incision: After the anesthesia takes effect, the surgeon will make an incision on the white eyeball. 4. Surgical operation: According to the preoperative surgical treatment plan, find the extraocular muscles that need to be adjusted and change the starting and ending points of the extraocular muscles, such as shortening or migrating back. 5. Suture the incision: Using professional surgical sutures, close the incision and gently apply anti-inflammatory eye drops or eye ointment, such as tobramycin dexamethasone ophthalmic ointment, on the white eyeball, and wrap the operated eye with medical gauze to end the surgery. Patients after strabismus surgery are advised to follow the doctor’s instructions for care, regular review, and prompt medical attention when discomfort occurs.
