In 2007, the World Cancer Research Fund published its latest report on Food, Nutrition, Physical Activity and Cancer Prevention, in which experts such as Chen Junshi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, summarized a large amount of evidence and assessment results on the relationship between 17 different types of cancer and food, nutrition and so on. Ten latest recommendations for cancer prevention were put forward. The details are as follows: 8 recommendations for the general population 1. Ensure that body weight is maintained within the normal range, and avoid weight gain and increase in waist circumference throughout adulthood; 2. Engage in at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity every day, and as the body’s adaptive capacity increases, increase the duration and intensity of activity appropriately, and avoid bad habits such as sedentary television watching; 3. Eat less high-energy food and avoid sugary drinks. If fast food is eaten, it must be eaten as little as possible; 4. Eat at least 5 servings (at least 400 grams) of different kinds of non-starchy vegetables and fruits every day, and eat cereals or legumes at every meal, limiting refined and processed starchy foods; 5. Intake of red meat, such as pork, beef, and lamb, should be less than 500 grams per week, and as little as possible of processed meat products (including bacon, salted meats, hams, and so on); 6. If alcohol is consumed, males No more than 2 portions per day (1 portion of alcohol contains about 10 grams – 15 grams of ethanol), women no more than 1 portion (children and pregnant women should be prohibited from alcohol); 7, to ensure that the daily intake of salt is less than 6 grams, and do not eat moldy cereals or legumes; 8, do not recommend the use of vitamins and other dietary supplements to prevent cancer, but should be supplemented appropriately in certain nutrient deficiency diseases or dietary intake is insufficient. At the same time, the experts also put forward 2 special recommendations: First, young mothers should exclusively breastfeed their babies (without adding any complementary foods and formula) for 6 months, and then breastfeed while adding complementary foods; second, cancer patients should follow the above recommendations on diet, nutrition and exercise, regardless of whether they have already recovered or are in the process of active treatment.
