Can you drink alcohol with erythromycin?

Erythromycin is an anti-inflammatory drug often seen to treat colds and skin infections, including infections of the urinary tract and lower urinary tract. You should not drink alcohol while taking erythromycin because it is still primarily metabolized in the liver, and it also repeatedly enters the enterohepatic circulation. Alcohol detoxification is also metabolized in the liver, so drinking alcohol after taking the drug will cause the liver to be overburdened, so there will be liver damage, especially if you drink too much alcohol. It is also not possible to drink alcohol immediately after applying erythromycin, and if you really want to drink, you can only do so a day later. This way the residual erythromycin will reduce the damage to the liver. If you still want to drink, it is safer to do so a week after stopping the drug.
