The presence of more than 10 follicles in both ovaries means that there are polycystic-like changes in both ovaries, but it does not mean polycystic ovary syndrome. For polycystic ovary syndrome, the diagnosis requires two of the following three things: first, ultrasound suggesting polycystic-like changes in both ovaries. Second, irregular and sporadic menstruation. Third, hyperandrogenemia or Kaohsiung manifestation. The diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome can be made if the patient has polycystic changes on ultrasound combined with menstrual changes or Kaohsiung manifestations. Polycystic ovary syndrome requires long-term management and cannot be completely cured with one treatment. Its cause is unknown, so it requires long-term continuous management.
