Ascites after cholangiocarcinoma surgery can be caused by hypoproteinemia, cancer metastasis, different causes need to be given different dispositions, such as furosemide diuresis, albumin infusion, systemic chemotherapy and so on.
1. Hypoproteinemia: if part of liver is removed during cholangiocarcinoma surgery, liver insufficiency may occur after surgery, resulting in hypoproteinemia. If the patient’s blood albumin is lower than 25g/L, albumin supplementation can be considered, and furosemide and other diuretic drugs can be added to assist the treatment at the same time.
2. Cancer metastasis: if cholangiocarcinoma has extensive metastasis in the abdominal cavity, it will also lead to ascites. Cancer metastasis can only be treated by systemic chemotherapy and peritoneal heat infusion chemotherapy.
If there is ascites after surgery for bile duct cancer, one should seek medical treatment as soon as possible, and can improve ascites puncture and other examinations under the guidance of physicians, so as to clarify the nature of ascites as soon as possible and receive corresponding treatment.
