The clinical manifestations vary depending on the location, and can occur in the skin, such as the corners of the mouth and lips, and in the mouth, where oral herpes occurs; in the genitals, including the vulva, perineum, femur, and buttocks; and in the eyes, including keratitis simplex and conjunctivitis.
