Can advanced gastric cancer be cured?

For patients with advanced gastric cancer, it means that distant metastasis has occurred. The possibility of cure is slim, and the aim of treatment under current medical conditions is to maximize the quality of life and extend the life span. Stomach cancer currently ranks fourth in the global cancer-related mortality rate, meaning that the chance of death due to this disease is still very high. The essence of advanced gastric cancer is that the disease process of gastric cancer has developed distant metastases. Patients with advanced disease have a poor prognosis, with an overall median survival of 10-12 months. Palliative chemotherapy is the main method of treatment, which can be combined with Chinese medicine treatment or targeted therapy. In recent years, although there have been some advances in the treatment methods for this disease at advanced stages, the cure rate is still low in terms of overall treatment effect. Even if gastric cancer is at an advanced stage, one should not give up treatment. In some advanced stages of stomach cancer, although metastases appear, such metastases may only be metastases of one organ. In this case, metastases can still be removed through surgery, and then further treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be carried out. It can make life as long as possible. Most of the advanced gastric cancer may have metastasis from multiple organs or cannot be treated surgically because of other problems. With appropriate treatment measures, it can also help to prolong life. The incidence of gastric cancer is very high, and the treatment of this disease is best achieved through early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment. The best way to solve the problem is not to let the disease enter the advanced stage.
