Conservative treatment is generally not recommended for depressed skull fractures. A depressed skull fracture is a more serious type of fracture due to the fact that it can affect the brain or nervous system and damage the soft tissues of the brain. If a depressed fracture is suspected, a prompt MRI is needed to observe any damage to the brain tissue, and early surgery for skull recovery is needed to prevent compression of the soft tissues of the brain caused by the depressed skull and to avoid triggering a series of neurological symptoms, such as medication confusion, impaired mobility, and memory impairment. Because of the severity of symptoms that may be caused by cranial depression, conservative treatment is not recommended and prompt surgical treatment should be considered. Cranial depression fracture should be promptly sought medical treatment, clear diagnosis, and targeted treatment.
