Xuan Shen has the effects of clearing heat and cooling blood (relieving blood heat by clearing heat); Maidong has the effects of nourishing yin and moistening lungs (nourishing lungs by replenishing lung fluid); and Platycodonopsis has the effects of declaring the lungs and expelling phlegm. 1. Xuan Shen: clearing heat and cooling blood, nourishing yin and lowering fire (nourishing yin essence and lowering fire), detoxifying and dispersing toxins and knots, it can be used for treating heat entering the camp and blood (the degree of invasion of heat into the human body is deep, and the symptoms are more serious), heat diseases that injure the yin, bone vaporizing and laboring couch (there is heat penetrating from the bones to the outside and accompanied by a prolonged cough), redness of the eyes, sore throat, sores, ulcers and swollen poisons, and so on. Dampness in the spleen and stomach and loose stools in spleen deficiency (thin and unformed feces) should not be taken. 2. Ophiopogon: nourishes Yin and promotes the production of fluid, moistening the lung and clearing the heart, can be used to treat Yin injury of the lung and stomach, symptoms such as dry cough, thirst due to injury of fluid, thirst due to internal heat (fever accompanied by symptoms such as overeating, excessive drinking, excessive urination, etc.), and insomnia due to heartburn. Spleen and stomach deficiency cold (spleen and stomach weakness cold) diarrhea, stomach phlegm (water metabolism disorder formed by the pathological products) dampness and stormy wind-cold cough are contraindicated. 3. Platycodon grandiflorum: it has the efficacy of promoting lung, expelling phlegm, inducing phlegm, discharging pus, and can be used to treat cough and phlegm, chest tightness, sore throat, and lung carbuncle spitting pus. It is not to be taken by those who have prolonged cough with deficiency of Yin, rebellious Qi and coughing up blood. The adverse reactions of XuanShen, Maitong, Platycodonopsis have not been clarified, and these drugs are contraindicated for allergy sufferers.
