What are the effects of Ganoderma lucidum

Ganoderma lucidum can be used as a traditional Chinese medicine, and its main effects are to tonify qi and calm the mind, and to relieve cough and asthma (stopping cough and calming wheezing). Ganoderma lucidum is the dried fruiting bodies of the fungus Ganoderma lucidum or Ganoderma lucidum of the family Polyporaceae, which is sweet in taste and flat in nature; it belongs to the meridians of the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys, and it has the efficacy of replenishing qi and tranquillizing the mind, relieving coughs and calming asthma, and can be used in the treatment of qi and blood insufficiency and loss of nourishment for the mind and spirit, tiredness and fatigue (lack of mental energy), insomnia, dreaming, palpitations, and shortness of breath in deficiency labors, coughing and asthma in deficiency of the lungs and lack of thought of food. Ganoderma lucidum, as a traditional Chinese medicine, can be taken internally by decoction or swallowed in powdered form. Its adverse effects and contraindications are still unclear, therefore, when used in the treatment of the above mentioned diseases, it should be carried out under the guidance of a physician’s diagnosis and should not be used on its own blindly.
