In some children, adenoid hypertrophy will heal spontaneously with age, and the use of drugs such as montelukast sodium and mometasone furoate can relieve the symptoms. Surgery can be considered according to the condition of those who have clinical symptoms of moderate-to-severe adenoid hypertrophy.
Adenoids in children from 2 to 6 years of age proliferation, there is physiological hypertrophy, after 10 years of age gradually shrink to disappear. Therefore, in some children, adenoid hypertrophy will be cured by age increase and gradual shrinkage of adenoids.
In general, mild to moderate adenoid hypertrophy can be treated with leukotriene receptor antagonists such as montelukast and nasal glucocorticosteroids such as mometasone furoate nasal spray, which can alleviate the symptoms but cannot cure the disease; and some of the patients with moderate to severe adenoid hypertrophy can be treated with adenoidectomy.
