What are the hazards of haze?

Since 2012, when the U.S. Consulate announced the PM2.5 value of Beijing, the main component of the haze has come into the public eye. Recently, the “Qinyuanchun Haze”, the windy head of Chairman Mao in front of Tiananmen Square and the saying “sandstorm blew away the haze” have been hotly forwarded on Weibo, once again alerting the nation to the increasing environmental pollution with Chinese black humor. This fine particulate matter, known as PM2.5, can enter the fine bronchi and alveoli of the human body and cause extensive damage to the respiratory system, leading to a decline in the defensive function of the respiratory system and lung function. Once it exceeds 10 µg/m3, there is a significant increase in total mortality, mortality from cardiopulmonary disease and mortality from lung cancer. Its harmful effects on sensitive people are even more self-evident. Hangzhou has published the monitoring value of PM2.5 since April 1, 2012, and the number of days that break 200 is not uncommon. In front of this necessity of life, I suggest to do a good job from personal protection and environmental protection. I. Personal protection (recommended when pollution is serious) 1. Reduce outdoor physical activities, children, the elderly, patients with respiratory diseases (especially those with asthma), heart disease patients should avoid outdoor activities. People who usually have exercise habits should stop running and walking outdoors and do indoor exercise. 2. Wear a mask when you go out as much as possible. (The selection and wearing of masks will be introduced later.) 3.Open windows to avoid the morning and evening haze peak hours, indoor air purifiers can be used. 4. Take off your clothes, wash your face and mouth when you go indoors (you can take a shower and wash your hair if you have the conditions). Environmental protection 1. Reduce the sources of pollution, try to use public transportation and reduce the use of private cars. 2. Advocate low-carbon environmental protection life.
