The most common type of hernia in the human body is the inguinal hernia

There are many different types of hernias, such as: cerebral hernias (common in cases of craniocerebral injury, intracranial hematoma, etc.), and muscular hernias (common in areas with well-developed muscles in the extremities or lumbar region due to rupture of the fascia encircling the muscle). The most common hernias are still those located in the abdomen. Among them, ventral hernias are subdivided into intra-abdominal hernias (inside the abdominal cavity, invisible from the outside, mainly manifesting as intestinal obstruction or intestinal ischemia, requiring special tests such as CT for diagnosis) and extra-abdominal hernias (hernias that protrude outward and can be seen on the body surface). Extra-abdominal hernia is also called abdominal wall hernia, which is commonly known as “hernia” or “small bowel pneumonia”. It is mainly caused when the abdominal cavity pressure is too high and the abdominal wall membrane is weak, causing abdominal contents such as intestines to protrude outward from this weak area and form a mass. Abdominal wall hernias are divided into incisional, umbilical, stoma, lumbar, white line, and inguinal hernias. Among them, inguinal hernia is the most common, accounting for about 90% – 95%. There are three types of inguinal hernias: inguinal hernia (seen in both the elderly and children), inguinal hernia (seen in the elderly) and femoral hernia (seen in women). Among them, inguinal hernias are the most common. In summary, the most common hernia in the human body is the inguinal hernia, in both men and women.
