Onlays or braces after root canal treatment

Whether to do an inlay restoration or a brace restoration after root canal treatment depends on the patient’s own intraoral condition and the amount of remaining dental tissue. After root canal treatment, the tooth tissue will become brittle because there is no nerve vessel to provide nutrition for the tooth tissue, which may cause the tooth tissue to crumble when the patient bites on hard objects. If the patient has more remaining tooth tissue and there is no more caries in the mouth, high inlay restoration can be performed. If the patient is easy to grow caries, there are more caries in the mouth, or the amount of remaining tooth tissue is not enough, it is still recommended to perform braces restoration, because the edge line of inlay restoration is longer and more likely to cause caries, for patients who are easy to cause caries, it is still recommended to perform braces restoration.
