How long does a pathology biopsy take?

In general, tertiary hospitals require 3 working days for outpatient pathology section examination, and 5 working days for inpatient. In clinical practice, the examination can be completed in 1-2 working days if immunohistochemistry is not required, but if the diagnosis cannot be confirmed after the results are presented and other tests need to be added, the time will be extended to 5 working days or even 7 working days accordingly. The process of pathological section examination is generally to ensure that the basic information of the patient is correct and then to take the material, information entry, pathological dehydration, embedding, sectioning, routine staining, sealing, and then to the physician who takes the material and issues the analysis report according to the microscopic characteristics.
